No What-Ifs about It

The Bible isn’t full of what ifs, but rock-solid faith.

Today it is easy to get caught up in what ifs.

What if I don’t find someone to love me for the rest of my days. What if I don’t get this job.

What -if.

Reading my Bible this morning, I was struck anew that no one in the Bible questioned anything the Lord said. I want faith like that. A faith so strong, that whatever the Lord says goes.  A faith that when the Lord speaks, I know it’s the truth.

Joshua wrote,

“Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed.” Joshua 24:14 (NLT)

I believe that with all my heart, but it’s not head knowledge yet. I know I will one day become an author and one day I WILL find love. It is just waiting and wondering. I am not good at waiting. I would like it if my Prince Charming rode into my life right now, but God has told me to wait. My daily You Verizon Bible verse, struck me afresh this morning, it is one I have heard/read a bazillion times, but this morning I read it with new eyes.

“Take delight in the Lord and He will you the desires of your heart.”-Psalm 37:4

That means that what God has promised me will come true, no what-if about it. I’m still deep in what ifs and pray for faith to stop asking and just wait.

Why do I worry? God has a plan for me and a purpose for my life. My head knows He will do what He says He will do, here’s to getting that to head knowledge. Our first response is to rush ahead of God’s timing. His timing is perfect, so I will find love when He decides I am ready, until then I will (try to) wait and not rush.

Much love and many blessings for the year ahead,

Mary Hannah
