This life is never easy. There are we when we get knocked down and beat out. Times when we doubt that God is even watching out for us. I know I have felt that way only twice up to this point in my life, but give me time I’m young. And both of those times, were when my grandparents passed away. My grandfather, Lea-Lea passed away five years ago, but the thought of his final days are still painful. I remember asking God, “Why?” And doubted his presence in my life for I don’t know how long. And my grandmother, Memaw passed away recently, and since her eternal healing, I was on the wrong path. But it all turned out where I found the path that would lead me back to faith; this life is too hard to do alone.
In Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” What a great promise!! God will never leave us to navigate these rough roads alone. He’s always in the driver’s seat and we’re in the passenger seat. He’s always watching over us, no matter what!
Ten years ago, I had an experience that I will not soon forget…..
I was sound asleep, when I awoke to the shadow of a person on my wall. In the gold glow from my closet light, I saw what looked like the shadow of a man. I was scared stiff! I remember thinking it was my mom, but its outline of fizzy hair and manly stature told me it wasn’t.
I have believed for years (and will keep believing) it was Jesus Christ himself. Watching me while I slept. Thinking about that image in hindsight, the appearance of the shadow had the outline of how Jesus is portrayed in Children’s picture Bibles. In the Bibles, he is pictured by the bare-footed Rabbi with the curly/fizzy hair that comes to his shoulders.
When I saw the shadow on the wall, I didn’t turn around, I was too scared. Now I think it would have been cool to turn around and see Jesus standing there, but if it was my mom, I would have be somewhat disappointed. The moral of the story is God never leaves you no matter what; even when we think He isn’t watching out for us, He is.
The words of Hebrews 13:5, hold a promise.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
